- There is an annual cheese rolling competition at Gloucestershire's Cooper's Hill, where people literally chase and try to catch a rolling cheese - can you believe this?
- London was the first city in the entire world to have an underground subway system.
- Thought London was the first capital city of England? Guess again! The first one was Winchester, chosen as the capital in 1519.
- The Queen Elizabeth II owns all the swans on the river Thames. The counting of the swans is done every year by the "Keeper of the Queen's Swans", which is an actual job. Unbelievable, right?
- The World Wide Web was invented by an English scientist named Tim Berners-Lee. It's due to him that we can keep in touch through the Internet!
